Mangione lawyers seeking dismissal on fed charges

Attorneys for Luigi Mangione asked a New York federal judge on Saturday to dismiss several charges from a federal indictment, including the sole count that carries a potential death sentence, in connection with the December assassination of UnitedHealthcare?s chief executive. In filings submitted to the Manhattan federal court, the defense argued that prosecutors should be barred from introducing Mangione?s statements to law enforcement and evidence found in his backpack, which contained a firearm and ammunition. The attorneys contend that Mangione was questioned without first being advised of his legal rights.
