RPT: Cyber chief uploads ‘sensitive’ items to ChatGPT

Madhu Gottumukkala, the acting director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, reportedly uploaded sensitive documents into a public version of ChatGPT. According to early reports from Politico, it looks like the alleged incident took place last summer and the interim head of the country’s cyber defense agency triggered multiple automated security warnings. CISA’s Director of Public Affairs Marci McCarthy said Gottumukkala “was granted permission to use ChatGPT with DHS controls in place.” LiveNOW’s Andy Mac is learning more about what could come next for Gottumukkala and the potential cyber security risks involved with Glenn Gerstell, Fmr. General Counsel for the NSA.
