Trump vows to fight crime in D.C., deploys Nat'l Guard

President Trump announced his plan Monday to deploy the National Guard to Washington, D.C. and have federal authorities take over the Metropolitan Police Department. This, Trump said, is part of his pledge to combat crime in the nation's capital. The announcement comes days before Trump is expected to travel to Alaska for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss possible Russia-Ukraine war ceasefire negotiations.
