Rep. Byron Donalds announces run for Florida governor

Republican Congressman Byron Donalds announced Tuesday that he's entering the 2026 race for Florida governor, hoping to succeed Governor Ron DeSantis. This comes after President Donald Trump endorsed Donalds for governor. The Associated Press reports that Donalds has been a frequent Trump surrogate and was on the short list to be his vice presidential running mate last year. DeSantis cannot run again due to term limits. While making the announcement on Fox News, Donalds praised DeSantis, saying he's done a ?tremendous job for our state.?
