Historic prisoner swap: American journalist returns

Three American citizens and one American green-card holder unjustly imprisoned in Russia were released in a prisoner swap on Thursday. Their names are Paul Whelan, Evan Gershkovich, Alsu Kurmasheva, and Vladimir Kara-Murza. Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich was arrested in March 2023 while traveling for a report, accused of espionage. American veteran Paul Whelan has been jailed in Russia since December 2018, again arrested on espionage-related charges. Both he and the U.S. government tried to dispute the charges, but he was sentenced to 16 years in prison. Paul Beckett, the assistant editor for the Wall Street Journal, joins LiveNOW from FOX.
