SpaceX?s Crew-2 is headed for the International Space Station after a successful pre-dawn launch on Friday. The Falcon 9 rocket thundered into the morning sky from Launch Pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 5:49 a.m. ET. "I couldn't be more proud of the Commercial Crew Program, and the SpaceX team, and the NASA team and what they've been able to do to enable reliable, safe, effective transportation to and from station," Acting NASA Administrator Steve Jurczyk said at a press conference earlier this week. Before the liftoff, NASA tweeted a video of the International Space Station flying over the Kennedy Space Center. The mission marks SpaceX?s third crewed flight in partnership with NASA, following its previous launch Crew-1 and Demo-2 missions. The launch also marks the first time that SpaceX reuses a rocket and a capsule for a mission.

Biden nominates former Sen. Bill Nelson as NASA Head
The Biden administration has tapped Former Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson to lead NASA. Nelson represented Florida?s Space Coast during his nearly two decades on Capitol Hill, where he was one of the space agency?s most vocal supporters. Nelson, as NASA administrator, will be tasked with leading the agency as it races to return American astronauts to the moon under the Trump-era Artemis program. The White House, last month, said it supports the Artemis Program, which aims to land the first woman and the next man on the moon by 2024.

NASA, SpaceX launch of the Crew-2 mission to ISS now targeted for Friday | NewsNOW from FOX
NASA blog, Twitter break the news that the launch of the Crew-2 mission to the International Space Station has been pushed back to Friday, April 23, 2021. NASA and SpaceX now are targeting 5:49 a.m. EDT Friday, April 23, for the launch of the agency?s Crew-2 mission to the International Space Station due to unfavorable weather conditions along the flight path on Thursday. Although conditions around the launch site were expected to be favorable for liftoff, mission teams also must consider conditions along the flight path and recovery area in the unlikely event of a launch escape. For a launch April 23, the U.S. Space Force 45th Weather Squadron predicts a 90% chance of favorable weather conditions at the launch pad for liftoff of the Crew-2 mission based on Falcon 9 Crew Dragon launch weather criteria. Conditions also are expected to improve along the flight path and recovery area for the mission. The primary weather concerns for the launch area will be liftoff winds.
