Chicago woman set on fire on train

A 50-year-old man, Lawrence Reed, is facing federal terrorism charges after allegedly dousing a 26-year-old woman with a flammable liquid and setting her on fire aboard a CTA Blue Line train this week. Charging documents filed in federal court say the attack happened Monday night near the Clark/Lake station. Police arrived to find the victim with severe burns to her face and body. On the train, officers recovered a partially melted bottle, a lighter, and flammable liquid. Surveillance footage allegedly shows Reed approaching the woman, pouring liquid on her, and trying to ignite it. She fled to the front of the train, after which Reed ignited the bottle and dropped it on the floor. The woman remains hospitalized in critical condition.
