Scott Bessent confirmed as treasury secretary

Investor Scott Bessent, President Trump's nominee to lead the Treasury Department, was confirmed Monday as Treasury Secretary. The former George Soros money manager was confirmed on a 68-to-29 vote. The secretary of the treasury serves as a major policy advisor to the president and has primary responsibility for formulating and recommending domestic and international financial, economic, and tax policy and managing the public debt.
