Norfolk train derailment in Calhoun County, Alabama, injuries reported

A Norfolk Southern train has derailed in Calhoun County, according to Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade. The train, which consists of approximately 30 cars, derailed just before 7:00 A.M. in a wooded area near Iron City Motor Way and Angel Road. The Quad Cities Fire Department says there is no danger to the public, and no hazardous materials have been released. The Calhoun County Emergency Management Agency said there are no injuries and no road blockages. The agency said Norfolk Southern has responded and is working closely with it. Norfolk Southern has a cleanup crew on site, but there is no estimation on how long the process will take.
