Hackers behind a ransomware attacker on the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) in early September have released confidential data online after the district refused to give in to the hackers’ demands. "I understand there will be many opinions on this matter," Los Angeles Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said. "But, simply said, negotiating with cybercriminals attempting to extort education dollars from our kids, teachers, and staff will never be a justifiable option. LAUSD refuses to pay ransom."
