Russia-Ukraine: Putin's new actions amount to 'direct assault,' US says

Russian President Vladimir Putin has taken steps that amount to a "direct assault" on Ukraine's sovereignty, state department spokesman Ned Price said on Wednesday, adding that evidence does show the Russians could launch a full-scale invasion at any moment based on the amount of troops at the border. Putin has ordered troops to move to Russia-controlled areas of Belarus that are close to Ukraine's capital Kyiv. The U.S. has responded with sanctions against Russia including the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which has now been shut down.
