New cat species discovered for first time in a century

Researchers have discovered a new species of wild cat in Bolivia, marking the first discovery of its kind in more than a century. The 10-year-old male, Leopardus tilcayo, also known as the Tilcayo tiger cat, is smaller than a typical house cat and is native to Bolivia. LiveNOW’s Austin Westfall speaks with Eduardo Eizirik, Ph.D., from the Center for Genomics and Molecular Biology, to discuss the discovery and what researchers know about the newly identified species.
