Crypto investor charged in NYC kidnapping, torture
A cryptocurrency investor, John Woeltz, 37, was arrested in Manhattan on Friday morning after his Italian former business partner escaped captivity and reported being kidnapped and tortured for two weeks in a New York City townhouse. Woeltz was allegedly looking to steal cryptocurrency passwords. Another suspect, William Duplessie, surrendered on Tuesday and faces charges including assault, kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, and criminal possession of a firearm in connection with the alleged torture.
