Off-duty officer shot, killed coming home from work

Chicago police are asking for the public's help identifying a man who they say shot and killed a police officer in the Chicagoland area over the weekend. Police say the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. Just before 3 a.m. early Sunday, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert near 55th Street and Kedzie Avenue and found Officer Luis M. Huesca suffering from multiple gunshot wounds nearby. He was located in the 3100 block of West 56th Street and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 3:22 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
