Russia launches record drone attack on Ukraine

Russia fired a record 728 Shahed and decoy drones at Ukraine overnight, as well as 13 missiles, the Ukrainian air force said Wednesday, in the latest offensive escalation amid mounting Russian aerial and ground attacks in the more than three-year war. AP reports, the city of Lutsk, which lies in Ukraine’s northwest along the border with Poland and Belarus, was the hardest hit, though 10 other regions were also struck, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Ukraine strikes Russian airbase; Russia sends drones

Ukraine said it struck a Russian airbase on Saturday, while Russia continued to pound Ukraine with hundreds of drones overnight as part of a stepped-up bombing campaign that has further dashed hopes for a breakthrough in efforts to end the more than 3-year-old war. Ukraine destroys Russian warplanes in drone attack

Ukrainian forces destroyed more than 40 Russian warplanes in a drone attack on Russian airbases deep within the country on Sunday. Ukrainian officials said the attack took more than a year to plan. Russia's defense ministry confirmed the attack, saying five airfields were hit. Ukraine said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy oversaw the attack. The strike comes just one day before officials from both countries are set to meet for a second round of ceasefire talks in Istanbul, Turkey. Russia & Ukraine peace talks end with POW deal

The first direct peace talks between Russia and Ukraine since the early weeks of Moscow’s 2022 invasion ended Friday after less than two hours, and a senior Ukrainian official said the Russian side introduced new “unacceptable demands.” AP reports, before they adjourned, Kyiv and Moscow agreed to exchange 1,000 prisoners of war each, according to the heads of both delegations, in what would be their biggest such swap since the war began.
