The roll call came shortly after the 1 p.m. CT deadline Speaker Dustin Burrows set for the House members to return to the chamber. This, Trump said, is part of his pledge to combat crime in the nation's capital. President Trump has nominated E.J. Antoni, a top economist at the Heritage Foundation, to be the new Bureau of Labor Statistics commissioner. This comes after Trump fired the previous commissioner Erika McEntarfer after a weaker-than-expected July jobs report, and updated May and June numbers reflected lower numbers than previously reported. Trump said the data in the report were not accurate on social media and suggested McEntarfer for skewing the data for political reasons.
