Supreme Court blocks full SNAP payments

The Supreme Court on Friday temporarily blocked a lower court order requiring the Trump administration to fully fund SNAP benefits during the government shutdown. A judge had ordered the payments by Friday, but the administration appealed, saying it lacked sufficient funds and sought to continue partial payments. Saturday senate session amid government shutdown

Senator John Thune addressed Congress as the government shutdown entered its 39th day. Thune stated that the American people are growing weary and noted that, for the first time since the shutdown began, Democrats are showing a willingness to consider reopening the government.

Duffy: 20% flight reductions possible

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy warned on Friday that if the government shutdown continues, he may require airlines to reduce their flight schedules by as much as 20%. Airlines were already rushing to comply with new government orders to scale back operations. The Federal Aviation Administration directed airlines to cancel 4% of flights at 40 major airports on Friday, with those cuts expected to increase to 10% by November 14.

Report: JFK's grandson to run for Congress

Politico reporter Jason Beeferman joins LiveNOW's Austin Westfall to discuss his scoop that former President John F. Kennedy's grandson, Jack Schlossberg, is set to announce run for Congress. Schlossberg's reported plan is to run for current Rep. Jerry Nadler's (D-NY) seat, who won't be seeking reelection next year representing New York's 12th District. This news comes the same day Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) officially announced her run for governor of New York.

SNAP funding fight: Trump appeals to Supreme Court

The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court to take up their request to suspend any court orders requiring it to spend more money to fully fund SNAP. A federal judge denied the administration's request earlier on Friday, and left the order in place.
