Early reports indicate that Republicans are trying to finalize their plans for a rather unusual event as they look to rally voters before the 2026 elections. According to some sources familiar with the matter, the GOP is working to target the Labor Day holiday in an attempt to capitalize on early-voting. We are now learning that a suspect is dead after a shootout with Houston police on Wednesday. According to local police, they received a call just before 4 p.m. related to a suspicious man in the southern part of the city. The caller said the man had a purse and a handgun. According to our partners at FOX 26 Houston, authorities say there were several rounds of gunfire exchanged as a responding officer took cover behind a patrol vehicle. It is now being reported that the officer rendered first aid to the suspect after the altercation, but the suspect died on the scene.
