Federal officials were expected to release millions in funding for the Gateway Tunnel project by Thursday afternoon after a federal court ordered the money be restored. New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill said the ruling from the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals requires the funds to be released immediately and will allow construction to resume on the long-delayed rail project beneath the Hudson River. We are learning more after a helicopter pilot who was critically injured in a midair crash in New Jersey died on Sunday. Investigators say the midair collision happened just before noon on Dec. 28 shortly after the two helicopters launched from Hammonton Municipal Airport. 65-year-old Kenneth Kirsch and 71-year-old Michael Greenberg were identified as the pilots in the midair collision. LiveNOW’s Shawna Khalafi is learning more tonight from Greg Payne with FOX 29, who is coming to us live from the scene of the crash.

We are gathering more information after one person was killed and another was critically injured when two helicopters collided and crash-landed in New Jersey on Sunday. According to the Hammonton Police Department, calls of an aviation crash were received at approximately 11:25 a.m. The NTSB said it has opened an inquiry and that an investigator was traveling to the scene.
