We are now hearing projections that Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton is set to win the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in Illinois, with the hopes of replacing Dick Durbin. Stratton managed to beat a field of candidates that included U.S. Reps. Raja Krishnamoorthi and Robin Kelly. A number of political experts expect Tuesday’s winner in the Democratic primary election to almost certainly go on to win November's general election.

A large, dangerous tornado touched down in Illinois on Tuesday, reportedly leaving heavy damage. According to our partners at FOX 32 Chicago, the tornado was part of a severe storm system that eventually moved into parts of northwest Indiana. The twister was eventually seen moving into Newton County, Indiana. FOX Weather is reporting that a dangerous storm system has been threatening the Midwest and parts of the Southern Plains today.
