We are getting all the latest updates as we take a look at election results coming out of the Lone Star State. Texans have gone to the polls tonight to decide the candidates for November's midterm election. The Associated Press is reporting that Ken Paxton and John Cornyn will be heading to a runoff election for U.S. Senate. The runoff election will take place on May 26, 2026. We are also hearing from current Representative Jasmine Crockett, who addressed supporters before the night ended regarding election results. 

LiveNOW’s Andy Mac is speaking with Congressman Pat Fallon who serves the 4th District of Texas after the State Department met with Congress on Tuesday. The meeting comes as operations in Iran continued, with President Donald Trump recently saying that the U.S. has "the capability to go far longer". The surprise attack on the Islamic Republic killed its leader Saturday and threw much of the Middle East into uncertainty. The U.S. military said this week that they had destroyed Islamic and Iranian facilities and sites during their operations. 

We are getting the latest as President Donald Trump sends an official notification to Congress about the U.S. strikes against Iran. Within the letter, President Trump attempts to justify the military action as conflict appears to expand in the Middle East. Trump said he was "providing this report as part of my efforts to keep the Congress fully informed, consistent with the War Powers Resolution." 

We are learning more as oil prices rose sharply when market trading began Sunday. LiveNOW’s Andy Mac is speaking to White House reporter Will Weissert who covers the White House for The Associated Press about this and more following major strikes on Iran this weekend. According to FactSet, a barrel of Brent crude was trading at around $79 per barrel, up about 8% from $72.87 from Friday. The prospect of oil supply disruptions from Iran and other regional sources led traders to speculate on a potential slowdown of production. 

We are learning more as U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson said he would not leap to conclusions about U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales' alleged sexting scandal with an ex-staffer. This comes even as the Texas Republican faces additional calls to resign.
