Sen. Mark Kelly sues Pentagon over demotion threat

Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona sued the Pentagon over attempts to punish him for his warnings about illegal orders. “The First Amendment forbids the government and its officials from punishing disfavored expression or retaliating against protected speech,” his lawsuit says. “That prohibition applies with particular force to legislators speaking on matters of public policy.” Sen. Kelly released a statement on Monday. This comes after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth censured Sen. Kelly last week.
