Unemployed get expanded financial assistance for health insurance

Dr. Lashawn McIver, director of the Office of Minority Health with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, explains how those who are on unemployment or have claimed unemployment in the last year are eligible for expanded health care benefits offered as a result of the most recent COVID-19 relief plan, known as the American Rescue Plan. Additional financial assistance is now being offered to anyone who has received unemployment benefits in 2021.
