Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill, the "Heartbeat Protection Act," that would prevent abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. DeSantis’ office announced the signing about 11 p.m., several hours after the Florida state House gave final approval to the bill (SB 300), one of the most-controversial issues of this year’s legislative session.
