Brittney Griner's Russia appeal denied -- WNBA star's sentence now 8 years

Brittney Griner's appeal of her 9-year sentence on drug charges in Russia was denied, leaving her to serve nearly her full sentence unless the U.S. is able to intervene. The appeals court reduced her sentence slightly to 8 years due to time already served. Griner was caught carrying a vape pen that contained cannabis at the Moscow airport while the WNBA star was competing abroad.
