The latest forecast shows the hurricane will continue to strengthen and could have winds around 180 mph by Friday night. Over the weekend, people were told to shelter in place and conserve food, water and fuel amid heavy rainstorms. Both the airport and entrance of Black Rock City, Nevada, where the event is held, were closed because of the conditions.
