Immediately following the final playoff games on Jan. 29, flight searches from Philadelphia to Phoenix spiked 169% while searches from Kansas City to Phoenix surged 61%, according to Hopper data.

It's already the biggest game in football, but this year the Super Bowl has even higher stakes for one family - the Kelce's!

Doug Williams, the first Black quarterback to start and win a Super Bowl, said he got emotional when he heard that Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes would make football history as the first Black quarterbacks to square off in a Super Bowl. 

There are no shortage of storylines: Kansas City coach Andy Reid goes against his old team — which he led to Super Bowl 39 — in a game that’s also the first matchup of Black starting quarterbacks in the Super Bowl with Mahomes and Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts.

Black quarterbacks have come a long way in the NFL since Fritz Pollard became the first to play in the league in 1923 and Doug Williams was the first to start and win a Super Bowl following the 1987 season. Now, Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts will be the first Black QBs to face off in a Super Bowl.

The performances will take place Feb. 12 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, before the championship matchup and halftime show featuring Rihanna. The performances will air on FOX.

With the Super Bowl coming up, an army of volunteers are needed - not just to get ready for the big game, but what comes after it.

Anyone who makes a blood, platelet, or plasma donation through Jan. 31 with the American Red Cross will automatically be entered to win a trip for two to the big game at State Farm Stadium on Feb. 12.

With about a month left before the Super Bowl, restaurants near where the game will be played and elsewhere are getting ready for what is shaping up to be a very important weekend.

One of those events is a free fan village at Margaret T. Hance Park. Local band Jimmy Eat World and country music artist Lee Brice will perform at the event.

The Glendale Municipal Airport is busy preparing to welcome hundreds of private planes as two high-profile events are making their way to the Valley – at the same time, including Super Bowl LVII.
