Kennedy Jr. said the banning of more than half a dozen synthetic food dyes is just the beginning as he works to confront America’s chronic health crisis. "We're going to do real science, and we're gonna do science precisely on the issues that American[s] care about. Making sure their kids are getting food that isn't poison. The food our kids are eating today is not really food. It's food-like substances," he said on "Jesse Watters Primetime." RFK Jr., alongside National Institutes of Health Director Jay Bhattacharya and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Marty Makary, announced Tuesday in Washington, D.C., plans to phase out petroleum-based synthetic dyes in the nation's food supply.

The Saudi-owned newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat reports that Hamas is expected to propose a new ceasefire framework for Gaza as its representatives arrive in Cairo. According to the report, the proposal includes the release of all remaining hostages held in the Strip in one phase in exchange for an agreed-upon number of Palestinian prisoners, the withdrawal of IDF forces from the Gaza Strip to the positions held under the recent ceasefire deal, a halt to military operations, and the entry of humanitarian aid. The Department of Education will begin collection in May for federal student loans in default, the Trump administration announced. There are currently approximately 5.3 million borrowers in default. The government will be able to garnish wages, pension, and other income to collect those debts. No federal student loans have been sent for collection since March 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic prompted a pause on student loan payments and interest. He had been recovering in his apartment after being hospitalized for five weeks with pneumonia. He made his last public appearance on Sunday, delivering an Easter blessing and making what would be his final greeting to followers from his popemobile, looping around St. Peter's Square. He also met with U.S. Vice President JD Vance on Sunday. Francis died of a cerebral stroke, the Vatican said. Dr. Andrea Arcangeli, the head of the Vatican’s health department, said that the stroke put him into a coma and led to irreversible heart failure. In his final will, Francis confirmed he would be buried at St. Mary Major basilica, which is outside the Vatican and home to his favorite icon of the Virgin Mary.
