Atlanta police confirm Deion Patterson, the 24-year-old gunman who opened fire in at a Midtown Atlanta's Northside Hospital, was taken into custody Wednesday night. They plan to hold a press conference at 8:15 p.m. Authorities have identified the suspect as 24-year-old Deion Patterson, who was discharged from active duty by the Coast Guard in January 2023. Authorities in Oklahoma confirmed that Jesse McFadden, the sex offender found dead with six others in a rural Oklahoma home, shot the victims in the head before turning the gun on himself, police announced on Wednesday. McFadden had spent 16 years in prison for a 2003 rape conviction and was scheduled to appear in court for his trial Monday on charges of soliciting child porn. Authorities have identified two of the victims ? Ivy Webster, 14, and Brittany Brewer, 16, of Henryetta, both of whom had been reported missing and in danger since Sunday night. Authorities identified the man as Jesse McFadden, who was serving a 20-year prison sentence for rape. Officers found the bodies of McFadden, his wife, her son and daughters, and two other teens visiting the family.

During a press conference shortly after 3 p.m., additional information was released by Atlanta Chief of Police Darin Schierbaum. Schierbaum said they received a call about a shooting inside a medical building in the 1100 block of Peachtree NW shortly after noon. Police soon discovered that five people had been shot in the waiting area of the building. The five victims that were shot were two 39-year-old females, a 71-year-old female, a 56-year-old female and 25-year-old female. The deceased victim is one of the 39-year-old females. Schierbaum did not reveal if the victims were patients or employees. Schierbaum also revealed that the suspect's mother was with him at the time of the shooting. She was not injured and the family is cooperating with police, said the police chief.
