Valerie Perrine, an Oscar-nominated actress known for her work in multiple Superman films, has died. 

She was 82.

Her death was announced on her social media.

"It is with deep sadness that I share the heartbreaking news that Valerie has passed away. She faced Parkinson’s disease with incredible courage and compassion, never once complaining. She was a true inspiration who lived life to the fullest—and what a magnificent life it was. The world feels less beautiful without her in it," the post reads.

TMZDeadline and The Hollywood Reporter all reported that her death was announced and confirmed by filmmaker and friend Stacey Souther.

Details about Perrine’s death were given on a GoFundMe page, which is accepting donations to help cover funeral and burial costs. The GoFundMe says her finances took a toll after needing medical care over the last 15 years as her condition worsened due to Parkinson’s. 

The Hollywood Reporter wrote that her Parkinson’s diagnosis left her immobile and without much ability to eat or speak. 

The GoFundMe account says Perrine died peacefully at home, and that her brother has also been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
