U.S. State Dept. helping Americans ahead of World Cup

The U.S. State Department is ramping up vetting ahead of the FIFA World Cup. Joining LiveNOW's Josh Breslow to explain the security measures is Mignon Houston, the deputy spokesperson for the State Department. 

Pop superstar Shakira is teaming up with Afrobeats star Burna Boy for the official 2026 FIFA World Cup song called "Dai Dai."

The Colombian singer teased the upcoming release in a video shared on social media. Here’s what to know:

In the minute-long video, Shakira and a crew of dancers are at Maracaná Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, shaking their hips as Shakira sings. "Here in this place / You belong," she sings in English, a male voice harmonizing with her. "What broke you once / Made you strong."

"Dai Dai" is Shakira’s second official World Cup song. In 2010, Shakira’s "Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)" was the official song for the World Cup in South Africa. 

It will be the fifth World Cup 2026 song released so far this year. The other four are "Lighter" by Jelly Roll and Carin León; "Por Ella" by Los Angeles Azules and Belinda; "Echo" by Daddy Yankee and Shenseea; and "Illuminate" by Jessie Reyez and Elyanna.

"Dai Dai" is separate from Coca-Cola’s official anthem for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Coca-Cola’s doing a reimagination of Van Halen’s "Jump" featuring Colombian singer J Balvin, drummer Travis Barker, pop/R&B singer Amber Mark and guitarist Steve Vai.

The FIFA tournament will kick off on June 11 with Mexico taking on South Africa at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. The final is scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, just outside New York City.
