A plane carrying Department of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth back to the United States from a NATO meeting in Brussels, Belgium had to make an unscheduled landing Wednesday afternoon in the United Kingdom due to a crack in the aircraft’s windshield.

Sean Parnell, Assistant to the Defense Secretary for Public Affairs, Chief Pentagon Spokesman & Senior Advisor to posted on X that the plane landed based on standard procedures and everyone onboard, including Secretary Hegseth is safe.

What caused the windshield to crack is unclear.
