How car recalls get reported

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) officially start car recalls after receiving complaints from consumers.

Wyze Labs Inc. has recalled more than 320,000 outdoor security cameras sold in the United States due to a fire and burn hazard linked to the product's installation instructions.

The recall was issued on Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The company said the instructions could lead users to accidentally puncture the battery's metal casing while installing the camera's solar panel, causing the battery to rapidly overheat and potentially ignite.

Wyze has received 13 reports of the cameras overheating, including six incidents in which the devices reportedly exploded and caught fire. The company also received six reports of consumers suffering minor burns.

Dig deeper:

The recall involved approximately 321,360 cameras with model number WYZESCPWH. The wire-free outdoor cameras feature motorized pan-and-tilt functionality, an integrated solar panel and were sold in white. The model number can be found on the back of the camera.

The recalled cameras were sold at Home Depot and Micro Center stores, as well as online through Wyze, Amazon, Temu, Best Buy, B2B Renew Inc. and ReturnPro between October 2025 and April 2026. The cameras retailed for approximately $80.

Consumers urged to stop using recalled Syze security cameras

What you can do:

Consumers are being urged to stop using the recalled cameras immediately and visit Wyze's recall website to determine whether their device is affected.

The recall applies to all consumers who used the long, flat-head screw to install the solar panel on top of the camera. Consumers who are unsure which screw was used during installation can find identification guidance on the company's website.

Wyze is offering affected consumers a choice of a free replacement camera with a solar panel accessory, a full refund or a gift card equal to the original purchase price for use on the company's website. To receive a remedy, consumers will be required to confirm that they have disposed of the recalled device.

Because the products contain lithium-ion batteries, consumers are advised not to dispose of the cameras in household trash, curbside recycling bins or standard battery recycling boxes. Recalled lithium-ion batteries require special handling due to their elevated fire risk. Consumers should contact their local household hazardous waste collection facility or municipal authorities for disposal instructions.
