A nationwide recall has been issued for thousands of bottles of blood pressure medication due to a manufacturing issue, according to an alert from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Dig deeper:

Inventia Healthcare Limited, which is based in India, initiated the voluntary recall of Chlorthalidone Tablets USP, 25 mg, on June 5.

By the numbers:

Approximately 11,460 bottles have been recalled, according to the FDA.

The recall involves 100-count and 1000-count bottles that were distributed by Risiong Pharma Holdings, Inc., in New Jersey.

Why you should care:

The pills did not pass "dissolution specifications," which basically means they don’t dissolve effectively when it enters the body.

The recalls involves the following bottles of medication:

  • 100 tablet bottles: Batch # RISA24001
  • 1000 tablet bottles: Batch RISB24002

Both should have an expiration date of April 2027.
