The Kansas City Star noted that the bullet was lodged in a wall between Reid’s bathroom and the entry door to his office, and two more bullets hit the building, with one hitting the third floor and another an air-conditioning unit outside. The news outlet reported that few people with the team knew about the incident, and Chiefs team officials later installed bulletproof glass following the shooting.

According to the Associated Press, the incident happened months after Reid guided the Chiefs to a Super Bowl championship repeat and their third title in a five-year span. Kansas City won the AFC Conference title again last season, only to lose to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.
