Protests in Kenya continue Thursday against a proposed finance bill tax increase despite the president?s decision not to sign it after the plans sparked deadly chaos in the capital and part of the parliament building being burned from protestors. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday urged the young protesters to call off planned protests and give dialogue a chance. Protesters who said last week that they would march to the State House on Thursday say they still do not trust President William Ruto, who has said the tax hikes would be withdrawn and budget cuts would be made.

Ship attack in Red Sea likely by Houthi rebels
In the latest maritime assault, a ship has been attacked in the Red Sea likely by Yemen?s Houthi rebels, a private security firm said. The ship issued a radio call while off the coast of the rebel-held port city of Hodeida stating they had been hit. It is not clear if the ship was damaged or if anyone was hurt in the assault. Neither the U.S. or British militaries immediately reported the attack. Yemen?s Houthi rebels did not immediately claim the attack. The Houthis claim that their attacks target ships connected to Israel, the United States or Britain, but many of the attacked ships do not have a connection to the Israel-Hamas war.
