30+ killed from deadly tornadoes across U.S.

Cleanup and recovery operations are underway across the central and eastern U.S. in the wake of a powerful storm system that swept across the nation, producing violent tornadoes, a dust storm, wildfires and blizzard conditions that have left at least 40 people dead. At least 35 dead after storms strike several states

The death toll rises to 35 after a powerful storm system spawned tornadoes and dust storms. Sgt. Eddie Young with Missouri State Highway Patrol joined LiveNOW from FOX's Josh Breslow to explain the devastation in Missouri.

At least 33 people killed by severe storms

Violent tornadoes and high winds decimated homes, wiped out schools and toppled semi tractor-trailers as a monster storm that also produced dust storms and icy conditions killed at least 33 people across the central and southern U.S. Missouri resident Dakota Henderson said he and others rescuing trapped neighbors found five bodies scattered in the debris Friday night outside what remained of his aunt’s house in hard-hit Wayne County. Scattered twisters killed at least a dozen people in the state, authorities said. The dynamic storm, earning an unusual “high risk” designation from weather forecasters, was blamed for deadly dust storms in the nation’s midsection, icy winter weather in northern parts of the country and severe thunderstorms on Sunday, including on the West Coast. Dust storms spurred by the system’s early high winds claimed almost a dozen lives on Friday. Eight people died in a Kansas highway pileup involving at least 50 vehicles, according to the state highway patrol. Severe weather outbreak: Death toll rises to 13

According to our partners over at FOX Weather the severe weather outbreak death toll has now risen to 13. This as as the south braces for more severe weather throughout the weekend. A tweet from FOX weather says at least 13 people are dead in Missouri and Arkansas following a widespread and dangerous severe weather outbreak Friday evening after numerous tornadoes were spotted across multiple states, causing significant damage.

EF2 tornado hits FOX 35 Orlando TV station

An EF2 tornado touched down early Monday morning in Lake Mary, Florida. It crossed FOX 35 Orlando's TV station and damaged homes in nearby Longwood and Lake Mary, officials and the National Weather Service said. FOX 35's meteorologist Brooks Garner, who was on-air when the tornado struck, joined LiveNOW from FOX.

Tornado touches down in Central Florida

Severe storms are sweeping through Central Florida on Monday, bringing widespread impacts. A radar-confirmed tornado, likely an EF0 or EF1, tore through Lake Mary in Seminole County earlier in the morning, according to FOX 35 Storm Team Meteorologist Noah Bergren.
