We are learning more after reports from Seattle police who say that multiple people were injured in a shooting at Seattle Center Sunday afternoon. According to our partners at FOX 13 Seattle, local police first confirmed the shooting around 6:30 p.m. Police have reportedly shut down Seattle Center grounds as they investigate the area. The public has been asked to avoid the area. Early reports indicate that the area was hosting the ‘Bite of Seattle’ food festival over the weekend. 

We are learning more this week as former special counsel Jack Smith is maintaining his innocence after House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan referred Smith to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for potential criminal charges. The Republican from Ohio has accused Smith of lying while under oath during a deposition before his House GOP-led panel in late 2025. We are learning more as Speaker Mike Johnson delivers remarks after the House adopted a $95 billion budget proposal Wednesday. Experts are saying this represents a long-shot effort to fund ongoing conflict against Iran. A number of House Republicans were divided over the plan. The vote tally was 216-214, with all Democrats opposed. 

We are learning more this week as David Hearn, a former Olympic canoeist, pleaded not guilty to deliberately damaging the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C. According to reports, Hearn entered the plea through one of his attorneys during his initial appearance in D.C. Superior Court. We are learning now that a status hearing was scheduled for Aug. 5. We are learning more this week as a former U.S. Olympic athlete was indicted by a federal grand jury on a felony charge of destruction of property. According to federal prosecutors, this comes after an incident at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool last month. David Hearn, a former Olympic canoeist, is accused of tearing up a section of the pool’s sealant on June 19. The Trump administration is working to spotlight an industry that has long been a cornerstone of both the U.S. economy and the president's political base.
