We are learning more after the first statewide debate for California governor was held in San Francisco on Tuesday. Candidates sounded off on a multitude of issues facing Californians, including immigration and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). LiveNOW’s Andy Mac is speaking with KTVU’s Greg Lee, who had the opportunity to host yesterday’s debate, as the election to replace Gavin Newsom draws closer.

LiveNOW’s Mike Pache is speaking with TMZ’s Branson Quirke as the search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie, enters its fourth day. Nancy was last seen on the evening of Jan. 31 at her home near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue outside of Tucson, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said. She was reported missing the following day after her family members were notified that she hadn't shown up for church. 

Ryan Routh, the man convicted of trying to assassinate then-presidential candidate Donald Trump in 2024, was sentenced to life in prison. LiveNOW's Mike Pache spoke about Routh's sentencing with FOX News multimedia reporter Olivianna Calmes.

Tensions between the United States and Iran continue to build ahead of scheduled talks in Oman. The meeting looked like it was on the verge of collapsing, but are still expected to happen, at least for now. LiveNOW's Mike Pache spoke about the situation with Iran with Reuters deputy foreign editor Humerya Pamuk. 

A giant phantom jellyfish was caught on video during a deep-sea exploration by the Schmidt Ocean Institute off the coast of Argentina in the southern Atlantic Ocean. DHS funding fight shifts into high gear. This comes after the House narrowly passed the funding bill to end the partial shutdown. 

Kristi Noem, the head of the Department of Homeland Security was joined by ICE and CBP officials for a news conference on Wednesday in Nogales, Arizona.

First Lady Trump met with freed Israeli hostage Keith Siegel at the White House. She also met with his wife Aviva Siegel. 

Ryan Routh, the man convicted of trying to assassinate Donald Trump just weeks before the 2024 US election, has been sentenced to life in prison. The 59-year-old was found guilty last September on five charges, including attempted assassination, after representing himself at trial. Prosecutors said Routh lay in wait with a semi-automatic rifle. The sentence was handed down on Wednesday by US District Judge Aileen Cannon in Fort Pierce, Florida.

U.S. House and Senate Democratic leadership held a press conference Wednesday setting the stage for future debates regarding funding for the Department of Homeland Security and calls for reforms to the agency.

Treasury Secretary Bessent testified on U.S. financial stability. During the hearing there was a heated exchange between Rep. Meeks (D-NY) and Treasury Sec. Bessent. 

Border Czar Tom Homan announces that 700 ICE and Border patrol agents are being withdrawn from Minneapolis immediately. Homan says the move will make operations run smoother and smarter. He also reiterated that Immigration enforcement is not surrendering it's efforts.    

Fox News is reporting that President Trump has said he will personally call Savanah Guthrie and offer additional federal assistance following her mother's apparent abduction in Arizona.

The U.S. and Iran are set to hold talks in Oman on Friday after Iran asked to move the location and limit discussions to its nuclear program, This comes as increased U.S. military activity in the Middle East raises concerns about a possible confrontation. This also coming after the U.S. shot down an Iranian Drone approaching the USS Abraham Lincoln.  President Trump confirming the talks are still a go. 

President Trump and Colombian President Gustavo Petro reportedly had a cordial meeting in their first face-to-face encounter. This coming after an ongoing back and forth between the two. Will Freeman with the Council on Foreign relations weighs in.
