Luigi Mangione appeared in court again on Thursday, exactly one year after United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed outside a Manhattan hotel. Mangione, 27, is charged with Thompson's murder, after a days-long manhunt for the suspect led authorities to a McDonald's in Pennsylvania, where they arrested Mangione. Mangione's attorneys are now fighting to have evidence gathered at that McDonald's thrown out, alleging Mangione was not read his Miranda Rights. The evidence includes the contents of Mangione's backpack -- which contained the suspected murder weapon and his journals -- as well as statements he gave to police at the time of his arrest. We have now learned that Brian Cole, Jr. was arrested and charged with violating 18 U.S.C. 844, which relates to the use of an explosive device, in connection with the pipe bombs that were placed at the RNC and DNC on January 6, 2021. Reports say that Cole was living in Virginia at the time of his arrest on Thursday morning. FOX 5 has confirmed that he was a resident of Woodbridge. It is the first time investigators have identified a suspect in a case that has long vexed authorities, fueled conspiracy theories, and remained one of the most persistent mysteries surrounding the violent Capitol siege. The bombs were placed on the evening of Jan. 5 near the Democratic and Republican national committee offices. No one was injured before they were rendered safe, though the FBI has said both devices were potentially lethal.

A 26-year-old Florida man could be spending the rest of his life behind bars following a majot drug bust. Maxwell Horvath was arrested in Brevard County, Florida, after authorities seized 92,000 pounds of an illegal kratom derivative,7-OH, and discovered a cache of weapons and explosives. The operation, uncovered 12 rifles, 17 pistols, and five improvised explosive devices at Horvath’s property. Horvath, who previously served time for possession of an explosive device and trafficking MDMA, faces pending federal indictments.
