Georgia flash flood rescues underway

Emergency evacuations are underway in McCaysville, Georgia, as rapidly rising floodwaters trap residents inside homes and vehicles. Swift-water rescue teams are working to reach stranded residents, while mudslides are creating dangerous conditions and making access difficult for emergency crews. More than 5 to 6 inches of rain fell across parts of northern Gilmer and southern Fannin counties, sending runoff into the Toccoa River and triggering dangerous flooding near the Tennessee state line.
