Cristiano Ronaldo announces international retirement

Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo announced Thursday that he is ending his career with Portugal’s national team, closing a chapter that included six World Cup appearances, a European Championship title and the record for most international goals by a men's player. Ronaldo’s celebrated international career began more than two decades ago ahead of Euro 2004. His departure comes after a reported falling-out with coach Jorge Jesus. “To the Portuguese people, the day has come for me to hand back the No. 7 shirt of our national team,” Ronaldo said.
