Canada's Carney welcomes EU "associate member" offer

Canada is welcoming the European Union’s proposal to make it the bloc’s first-ever “associate member.” Speaking to the European Parliament, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada and Europe are “stronger together” as the two sides look to deepen economic and security ties. The proposal comes as Canada and the U.S. remain locked in a trade dispute over tariffs.
