The storm prompted the National Weather Service to issue the first-ever Blizzard Warning for southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas. L.A. Unified to reopen most schools Monday
The Los Angeles Unified School District said most schools and offices will reopen Monday, Jan. 13. "Conditions have improved for a majority of areas across the Los Angeles region and the District is confident it is safe for students and employees to return to campuses," the district said in a statement. Open schools will be on a full inclement weather schedule which limits outdoor and athletics activities. Masks will also be available for students and employees, the district said.

8 deaths confirmed in Eaton Fire
Los Angeles County officials provided an afternoon update on the wildfires burning in the region. During the update, officials stated that eight deaths have been confirmed in the Eaton Fire. They also shared that the fire has burned 14, 117 acres and is currently at 15 percent containment.
