California voters approved new congressional district boundaries Tuesday, delivering a victory for Democrats in the state-by-state redistricting battle. The approval of Proposition 50 gives Democrats a shot at winning as many as five additional seats, just enough to blunt Texas Republicans’ move to redraw their own maps to pick up five GOP seats at President Donald Trump’s urging.

At 34, Mamdani will make history as New York City’s first Muslim and first Indian-American mayor, ushering in a new chapter of leadership for the nation’s largest city. "You have dared to reach for something greater," Mamdani said Tuesday night.

A UPS cargo plane crashed Tuesday afternoon shortly after taking off from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, prompting a large emergency response and a shelter-in-place order across parts of the city. Andy Beshear, the Governor of Kentucky, provided an update in the hours after the crash. Local officials representing the nearby affected community provided more information alongside Gov. Beshear.
