Update after boat capsizes in San Francisco Bay

We are continuing to watch as search and rescue efforts are underway in the San Francisco Bay near Alcatraz Island after a boat capsized earlier on Tuesday. The San Francisco Fire Department said at least one person received CPR during the rescue effort. Divers were reportedly in the water searching the surface as helicopters continued searching from above. A family reunification center has been set up in the Concourse Building at Fort Mason.

Early reports indicate that a total of 17 people have been rescued and at least one person remains missing according to our partners at FOX 2 San Francisco. A combination of first responders includes the Oakland Police Department, and the U.S. Coast Guard on a private boat. Mayor of San Francisco Daniel Lurie spoke to the media in the hours after the initial incident.

Our partners at FOX 11 Los Angeles have the latest updates as Edwards Air Force Base officials released the identities of the eight crew members killed Monday when a B-52 Stratofortress crashed shortly after takeoff during a routine test mission. Officials said the B-52 bomber took off shortly before noon under clear skies, heading south-west, but slammed into the ground about halfway down the 15,000-foot runway.
