FULL REMARKS: Trump says Gabbard is wrong about Iran
President Trump told reporters Friday that Tulsi Gabbard, the U.S. Director of National Intelligence, and the broader intelligence community is wrong about Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Gabbard previously said – including during testimony to Congress earlier this year – that Iran was not building a nuclear weapon. However, Trump in recent days has doubled down on his assertion that Iran is close to building a nuclear weapon. Trump said that Iran is a “matter of weeks” or a “matter of months” away from having nuclear capabilities, and when asked about the discrepancy between that assertion and Gabbard’s, he said “my intelligence community is wrong about having no evidence of nuclear weapons.” Trump said Iran has two weeks to make a deal as missiles continue to volley between Iran and Israel, who first struck an Iranian nuclear site last week. Trump said he is “always a peacemaker,” but said there are moments that require “toughness.” Before heading to his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, Trump also talked to reporters about the Los Angeles anti-ICE protests and the recent trade deals made with Congo and Rwanda.

A barrage of Iranian missile struck the main hospital in southern Israel early Thursday, causing ?extensive damage? and wounding at least 40 people.
