Trump talks tariffs, assassination attempt, Ukraine
President Trump took questions from reporters Sunday evening as he departed Air Force One for the White House, one year after an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. When asked how he felt about the anniversary, Trump said "I don't think about it much, I have a job to do." "God was protecting me," Trump said. Trump also told reporters to expect more trade deals and tariffs in the coming days with foreign countries. He said that the U.S. will be sending Patriots missile air defense systems to Ukraine, and will be supplying weapons via NATO to help support them amid the ongoing war with Russia. He slammed Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying Putin will "talk so beautifully and then he'll bomb people at night." Trump is scheduled to meet with the secretary general of NATO on Monday at the White House. Responding to recent reports that FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino may resign over Attorney General Pam Bondi's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking investigation at the Department of Justice and the "Epstein Files," Trump said that he spoke with Bongino and is in "good shape" and "sounded terrific."
