California voters approved new congressional district boundaries Tuesday, delivering a victory for Democrats in the state-by-state redistricting battle. The approval of Proposition 50 gives Democrats a shot at winning as many as five additional seats, just enough to blunt Texas Republicans’ move to redraw their own maps to pick up five GOP seats at President Donald Trump’s urging.

At 34, Mamdani will make history as New York City’s first Muslim and first Indian-American mayor, ushering in a new chapter of leadership for the nation’s largest city. California voters have approved Proposition 50, the Election Rigging Response Act. Now approved, the ballot measure would allow the state to temporarily redraw California's congressional map, in an effort to help Democrats gain five more U.S. House seats next year.
