We have now learned tonight that the U.S. House passed this year's final batch of spending bills as lawmakers worked to avoid another funding lapse for the federal government. The four bills are now moving to the U.S. Senate and total about 1.2 trillion dollars in spending. Final passage will be needed next week before a Jan. 30 deadline to avoid a partial government shutdown. Earlier in the week, President Donald Trump declared that the U.S. is the only nation that is in a position to secure Greenland. We are hearing from police in Washington D.C. this evening after 2 teens and 3 adults were injured in a shooting Thursday evening, according to officials. Reports from our partners at FOX 5 DC say that according to D.C. Fire and EMS, all victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. The ongoing law enforcement investigation has shut down the 5900 block of 16th Street, NW, from Missouri Avenue to Oglethorpe Street, NW, in both directions.

We are hearing from President Donald Trump after his trip to Switzerland for the World Economic Forum. Trump spoke for more than 70 minutes on Wednesday and took time to talk about economic growth in the U.S. as well as his year-one achievements in office. President Trump spoke to reporters as he returned to the White House on Thursday evening. He was asked about bruising seen on one of his hands while on Air Force One, saying he ‘clipped’ it on a table. Trump said, "I would say, take aspirin if you like your heart, but don't take aspirin if you don't want to have a little bruising." 

A federal magistrate judge declined to bring charges against former CNN anchor Don Lemon in connection with the anti-ICE protest at a Minnesota church over the weekend. LiveNOW's Mike Pache spoke about the judge's decision with former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani. 

Vice President JD Vance made an appearance in Minneapolis on Thursday saying that the "chaos" that has been seen in the city is the result of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey's "lack of cooperation turning up the temperature." The VP’s visit comes amid a surge of federal agents to the Twin Cities. "Local authorities have been told do not cooperate," Vance said. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey spoke to the media on Thursday hours after Vice President Vance made his appearance in the city. 

We are learning more today from school officials in Columbia Heights, Minnesota after they say a 5-year-old boy was used as "bait" for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as a means of detaining him and his father. This comes as Columbia Heights Public Schools Superintendent Zena Stenvik says four students have been detained by ICE. 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was detained Tuesday afternoon. According to reports, the child was just arriving home from preschool when he and his father were apprehended in their driveway. 

Plans for the first lunar hotel were announced by a Bay Area startup called GRU Space. The company is already taking deposits of between $250,000 and $1 million to reserve rooms at the hotel.
